All Candidates Debate… 1
Open to the Public, Candidates will answer questions from the general public.
Or that’s what was intended, … based on a phone call from organizers of the event the general public will not have the opportunity to question local candidates as the debate has been cancelled. When first approached about the possibility of an open debate I supported the event in part because I agreed with a recent Editorial in the Fort Frances Times that the general public should have the opportunity to ask questions of all candidates.
I do not understand, nor do I feel it my place to get involved with the politics of any organization. But I am prepared to answer any questions of the residents of our community at any time, most importantly when they are deciding who they may support in the upcoming election.
Would you be so kind as to provide details as to whom the organizational body of said debate is?
@ John: The president of the Fort Frances Labor Council Dale Gustafson, tried but because Avis said he wouldn’t attend, and a group of candidates for council claimed they would not attend because the Labor Council was not legitimate?? Labor council met and Voted to cancel the debate because of lack of interest….I don’t get into other organizations politics but, If Labor Council is not legitimate, how is it that they met and voted to cancel????? All I do know is that the residents of Fort Frances were denied, yet again, an opportunity to ask questions of the people who want to represent them.
